Michael Gold

Michael’s association with the Nextgen Group dates back to 2009 when he was part of the team that that successfully tendered for Regional Backbone Blackspots Programme for Nextgen and Visionstream, when both companies were part of the Leighton Group.  He was appointed to the role of Group General Counsel in August 2015.   He is responsible for the legal and governance functions for the Nextgen Group and is also company secretary.

Michael is an Infrastructure and Projects lawyer that has held senior positions at Leighton Contractors Pty Ltd (now CPB Contractors Pty Ltd) and leading New Zealand law firm Simpson Grierson.  He has more than 15 years’ experience in providing legal advice in relation to major infrastructure projects, PPPs, telecommunications projects and M&A of infrastructure businesses. 

Prior to joining Nextgen, Michael led a large team of construction lawyers at Leighton, focussed on supporting the work winning activities of the business.  He was also heavily involved in Leighton’s divestment of Nextgen to OTPP in 2013 and the divestment of Leighton Services (now Ventia) in 2015.
