Nextgen Networks announced today it had signed a new data connection deal with the Roy Hill Project in the Pilbara.

The new deal will see Nextgen supply Roy Hill with high-speed data connectivity between their communications systems in Port Hedland and their Remote Operations Centre in Perth.

Nextgen CEO David Yuile said it was particularly pleasing to win the tender as the company increased its presence in the WA mining sector.

“As new technologies are introduced in the mining industry, Nextgen is actively working to provide companies in the West with competitive solutions which support these new capabilities.

“We are investing more than $100m in the North West Submarine Cable from Port Hedland to Darwin with our project partners, Alcatel Submarine Networks, a project that will deliver state-of-the-art, high-speed data communications services to offshore and onshore resource operations..

He added that the North West Cable project would open up telecommunications competition in Port Hedland and the Pilbara for the first time.

“We have a successful track record of delivering major ICT infrastructure for business and Government. With the North West Cable project, we are building on this success and delivering solutions to the oil and gas industries and the broader resources sector.”
